After 8 episodes of slow paced, incredibly non organic, nuanced storytelling, I'm getting off to sleep. From Episode-8, this drama is without a relatable or decent character to ground the story, the constant scheming just feels exhausting. The writer makes the characters feel flat and frustratingly predictable especially the useless father, the greedy sister, the cold hearted mother who remains trapped in their worst behaviors without any redemption - a real dysfunctional family and it's viewers are subjected to a fatigue of absolute malice. This drama is MAKJANG - a pathetic plot relying on absurdly toxic family (all three families, Mu Jin's, Gyu-rim's and Seo-hyeon's) and endless family chaos. The verdict? Dragging and utterly boring! I'll definitely save my energy for Ji Hoon and Minha's The Remarried Empress due to air on November 4, 2026.

I'm watching the series just fine. However, it's kind of a messy, there's a lack of cause and effect transitions in it's very first episode. The writer of this series is throwing in random events just to move things along without proper set up. First episode reeks of poor pacing. This could have started with the two leads spending time in their workplace and review their life but as it happens, we get a cut in the box scenes, jumping from one frame to another. The individual scenes are short but they feel completely disconnected from each other, like a collection of random, disjointed skits glued together. Watching Episode 1 right after finishing Bonafide Killer, I felt drowsy. Can't blame the actors, it's the disjointed Frankenstein script that makes this series sluggish.
